String Cheese Incident

String Cheese Incident was formed in Colorado in 1993. Their music incorporates many different genres, including bluegrass, rock, country, funk, jazz, reggae, psychedelic rock, and even some electronica. Along with the forming of a band, The String Cheese Incident formed their own record label, SCI Fidelity. Their live shows consist of large segments of improvisation and lots of psychedelic eye-candy. In 2006 SCI announced that they were taking a hiatus, and besides for sporadic random concerts, they did not officially reunite until 2010, when they played at Red Rocks in CO and three nights at the famous Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, VA. In 2011 they began touring around the country again.

Over the years, SCI developed a very dedicated following of "cheeseheads," and their fans can be easily deciphered. They tend to dress very colorfully, similar to "ravers," and they are known for their large number of hula-hoopers.

SCI has been featured as a headliner at many different festivals, including such big names as Bonnaroo, Wakarusa and Rothbury, and they even organized their own traveling festival which has acts such as Umphrey's Mcgee, Yonder Mountain String Band, Michael Franti and Keller Williams.
