Ringtone downloads

Trendy ring tones

OK, so you’re in one of the communal residency areas of Hampshire College in Western Massachusetts. Your cell phone rings and goes rrrring rrrring or bleep-ed-bleep-bleep or some other awful, even embarrassing, basic ringtone that was pre-set on the phone.
Even worse, someone standing by you has just had their cell phone ring but you did not hear a basic ring tone, oh no - was that the latest coolest tune from my favorite band and they’ve got it as their ring tone!

You’ll probably feel it’s time to find a hole and crawl into it. However, don’t despair help is at hand! All you have to do is get to a computer and find a ringtone download service that’s got the sort of tunes, sounds and effects you’d like to have to make your cell phone as cool and neat as everyone else’s.

Ringtones can you download.

A good ringtone download service will give you access to literally thousands of the very best and latest ring tones that are available over the internet. Not only will you be able to download tunes and songs but an amazing selection of noises and sound effects that can make give your cell phone a truly individual and unique ringtone.

This could be a sound clip form your favorite movie or TV show, the sound of a roaring premium motorcycle engine, a dog barking and the sound of laughter - just about anything you can imagine or want. Don’t forget of course you can download more than just one ringtone for someone calling you, you can download different tones for engaged, for different callers and even for your ‘busy’ signal.

There are three types of ringtones your cell phone can use:

  • Monophonic - plays only one tone at a time.
  • Polyphonic - can play several, up to about 72, different tones at once. These give the impression of several musical instruments playing at once, rather like early synthesized MIDI tracks. But, the quality of the sound is very dependent on the playback capability of the cell phone, ie. playback quality can be poor.
  • Realtone - is a ringtone with MP3 high-fidelity qualities, it will be an excerpt from a recording of a tune that you could buy on a CD in a shop or download to your MP3 player device. These ringtones are also called  Mastertones or Superphonic ringtones.
  • Singtone - is a newer development. Basically it’s a Realtone track that you can edit so that your voice is heard as the singing track.

Having selected your ringtone and downloaded it all you then have to do is transfer it from your computer to your cell phone and wait for everyone’s heads to turn around in envy when they here the ringtone you’re using. It’s really quite easy even if you’re not familiar with the technical aspects of your cell phone.

What to expect from a ringtone download service.

There are loads of ringtone download services that you can choose from on the internet. Most offer different payment options and accept payments via paypal or credit cards. Just do a search for ringtone downloads and you’ll realize how difficult it can be to trying and decide which is the best one to use.

A good guide is to ask around your friends to see which ones they use, this can serve two purposes. You might want to avoid using the same one to lessen the chance of having the same ringtone that they do or alternatively they could help you find a good reliable service and avoid expensive or unreliable ones.

Anyway, here are some basics for you to consider on your own:

  • Are the ringtones compatible with your cell phone?
  • Has it got a large selection of ringtones to choose from?
  • Is it easy to find the ringtones you might want to use? Can you search by artist, title, genre, etc?
  • Is it a free site?
  • If you have to pay, does it have a range of payment plans and most importantly - is their a payment plan that suits you and is affordable!
  • Are the Polyphonic ringtones realistic and clear to hear?
  • Are the Realtones by the original artist and are they clear to hear?
  • Has the website got audio preview? (If not I wouldn’t use it!)
  • Has the website got a good help and support system?

Can you create your own Singtone or Ringtone in the website? Or download: wallpapers, pictures and videos for your cell phone?
